An eco-friendly farm built for gathering
La Calma sits on 1.1 acres of gardens, fruit trees and open lawn in the hills above Girardota. One house and two flats share the property with a swimming pool, hammocks strung between the trees, and long tables where groups eat together.
It is close enough to Medellín for an easy airport transfer, and far enough to hear the variety of birds. Couples and groups come for a day; more often they stay the week.
The Nutabe and Muisca, who were part of the broader Kalina (Carib) language family, were the most prominent tribes the Spanish conquistadores encountered upon their arrival in this central region in the 1540s.
